		<description>I think you have drawn a nice comparison between learning a spoken language and computer programming. However I think you have overlooked two very critical requirements to learning programming.

1) You have to bend you mind to a clear, structured, methodical and logical way of thinking. 
2) You have to belong to the set of people who like and set out to solve problems and challenges with technology.

Without these two ingredients, even the best books and best people around will not help you learn to program. The good news is however that both these qualities can be cultivated. The &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.alice.org&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;ALICE&lt;/a&gt; project is an excellent example of this.
